SESSION ONE - PART 1

As an introduction to KCPP discuss the following:

1) Why do people carry knives?

2) What is their attitude to knife carrying?

3) What attitudes do their friends have?

4)What rules do they have in their lives such as the fear of crime, territoriality and gangs?

What could be different?

How could this be different?

What should he have done?

Why?

Think about his choices when he was in a group.

What might change?

What influences his choices?

What does Leon think when he see his victim?

What does Leon think at the time of the attack?

Think about and discuss the following:
Pack mentality, Adrenaline, Impressing friends, Looking good.

Who suggests stabbing the victim?

How might the result be different if he wasn’t carrying a knife that day?

Discuss Peer pressure, what this means and how this can be resisted?

Explore how, as Leon watches the filmed footage do you think he understands what has happened?

Does Leon regret his actions, or does he regret getting caught?
Give your thoughts and be ready to share with whole group.

What does he reget?

Why?

How does he feel at the time of arrest and at the time of sentance?

Think about possible 'if only I...' statements he might be thinking.

What are the consequences for him now?

What are the consequences for others around him? (e.g. the ripple effect)

Consider what Leon meant when said about the victim”He won’t be coming around these ends again”.

What does he think now, when Leon won’t be out for the next 20 years!
